Margin is not a fee and not a cost — it is the part of the balance the platform freezes while a position is open, and it comes back when the position closes. The arithmetic is (lot size × contract size × price) ÷ leverage, which is why the same trade blocks ten times less on 1:500 than on 1:50 while risking exactly the same money. Pip value works the other way round: it depends on position size alone, roughly $10 per pip on a standard lot of a USD pair and about $0.10 on a 0.01 lot. The platform shows the exact figure before an order is confirmed; that number, not a calculator, is the one to trust.

Frequently asked questions

How is margin calculated on Exness?
Margin = (lot size × contract size × price) ÷ your leverage. For example, a 0.10 lot of EUR/USD at 1.10 needs about $110 at 1:100, or about $22 at 1:500.
What is a pip worth on Exness?
On most USD pairs, one pip is worth about $10 on a standard lot (100,000 units) and about $0.10 on a 0.01 micro lot.
